The IMechE UAS Challenge, hosted by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, is an annual international competition that brings together university teams from around the world to design, build, and fly autonomous unmanned aerial systems (UAS).
Launched in 2014, the challenge inspires the next generation of engineers by offering a real-world aerospace engineering experience. Kicking off each year in September, teams embark on a full design, development, and testing lifecycle, culminating in an exciting final fly-off event in July, hosted in England.
Each UAV must complete a series of mission objectives, including autonomous flight, waypoint navigation, and humanitarian aid delivery. The competition not only tests technical expertise but also encourages innovation, teamwork, and problem-solving in a high-stakes environment.
As Ireland’s first-ever team to enter this prestigious challenge, we are excited to showcase our engineering talent and contribute to the future of UAV technology.
